Best Filipino Pride Songs
I have always been very proud to be Filipino. I’m proud to be brown and there isn’t anyone who can convince me to whiten my skin. There are several anthems out there that can express how proud you are but for us here at DiscoverPH.com, these songs are the best Filipino Pride songs.

Mga Kababayan ko – Francis Magalona
The late FrancisM was an innovator and the first successful Pinoy to integrate Pinoy rap and Pinoy hip-hop. His album “Yo!” released in 1989 was the very first Pinoy rap album that was a nationwide success and this song was the anthem on every Filipino’s lips, hearts and minds. Mga Kababayan ko started the trend for Nationalistic Rap or Makabayang rap.

Tayo’y mga Pinoy – Heber Bartolome
Another Pinoy pride anthem, this song’s most popular line would be “Wag kang mahihiya kung ang ilong mo ay pango” – giving new light and pride to being flat nosed. Although it was just a finalist in the first Metro Manila Popular Music Festival (MetroPop)in 1978, the song was so powerful and emotion-provoking that it became a very popular Pinoy Anthem.

Ako ay Pilipino – Kuh Ledesma
A lot of other singers have sang this particular Pinoy anthem but nobody does it quite like Kuh Ledesma. Everytime she sings it, I always imagine her to be this Filipino queen inspiring her troops to battle. Ako ay Pilipino was written by the late George Canseco as commissioned by former First Lady Imelda Marcos.

Noypi – Bamboo
Who said that the youth does not understand Nationalistic pride? Bamboo’s Noypi is definite evidence that the youth does understand what being Makabayan means and that it’s not just a fad. “Hoy! Pinoy ako! May agimat ang dugo ko!”

Iisang Bangka – The Dawn
Ignore the terrible clothes for a moment and just focus on the song. This song is such a great Pinoy Pride anthem that San Miguel Beer used it for a pretty long campaign on being nationalistic and love for country. And yes, Jet Pangan was HOT then. (He still kinda is)
