Pinoy Pride: Maximo Aton – Honest taxi driver

With the hoopla and hubub of all the issues concerning our country and its leaders and people, one sometimes tend to lose faith in humanity and doubt their ability to be kind, honest and caring. Taxi drivers can often be at the center of people’s dismay because we have all heard one too many stories of taxi drivers who are dishonest, asking for “extra” or “steals” your stuff that you have unfortunately left behind. I am happy to report that there are still some taxi drivers who are honest and hardworking.

Maximo Aton’s story started when Raine Cruz rode his taxi. Long story short, due to exhaustion, he and his friend inadvertently left a bag with a large amount of money in it with a laptop as well. Raine and his friend weren’t able to get the plate number of the taxi but good thing they were able to contact a hotel where they flagged Kuya Maximo and the hotel security guard gave Raine the plate number of the taxi and the mobile number as well.

Kuya Maximo was contacted and much to their surprise, he was just about to go back to the hotel to return the bag because he tried to go back to Raine’s place but couldn’t find his way anymore. Both parties arranged that they meet somewhere and there, Kuya Maximo returned the bag, laptop and money intact. You can read the entire story here.
