Buy Pinoy – Manila Sole Shoes
David and I were speaking about this some time ago – he asked why Filipinos prefer imported stuff rather than local counterparts. I guess it’s been ingrained in us that imported items are of better quality. Even though they are expensive, they’re worth the money because they’re better…or so we have been made to believe.
The truth is, a rather large chunk of Pinoy made products do fall under the category of “needs improvement” however, this does not mean we do not have Pinoy products that are world-class. Why aren’t we supporting those then? A professor of mine once said that buying locally made products help the economy. I told him that if there were any good locally made products, I’ll support it. The problem was, we didn’t know of any pinoy made products at that time other than the usual fast food chains. This drove me to find good pinoy made products and let everyone else know about it. Just like Manila Sole Shoes.
The fact that they’re Pinoy and it’s a Pinoy product is the honey pot but what put’s the huge cherry on top is that they use recycled rubber for the soles of their shoes. Now if that isn’t a high five and a half, I don’t know what is.Their shoes are mostly made out of canvas with leather trims and their trademark recycled soles. They also name their shoes after Philippine Heroes.
The shoes are fashionable without being tacky or gaudy. As of this post, they have three models for their shoes: Rizal, Bonifacio and Aguinaldo. I wonder if they’re ever going to come out with a ladies’ line. I would think Gabriela or Tandang Sora would be a nice name for a shoe model.
