5 Best Spas in the Philippines
We Filipinos have always believed in the healing power of touch. I guess that’s the reason why we’re so malambing – we like to hug and touch and we like to be hugged and touched back. For years, we have had hilots and albularyos healing us well before Western medicine came along.
This weekend, why don’t you try one of the healing massages offered by these 5 spas in Metro Manila that we at DiscoverPH.com have declared to be the best.

1. Sanctuario Spa – Aside from the really serene ambiance, Sanctuario spa has specialized Filipino traditional healing therapies. They have the traditional hilot (which is the traditional Filipino massage. It’s a bit heavy and is similar to accupressure) and other unique treatments.
Try their Dagdagay, which is a native foot massage practiced in the Mountain Province. Also known as “kol-kolis,” Dagdagay uses two sticks to massage the feet in rolling and scratching motions from the heel to toes to stimulate blood circulation. They also have the Albularyo 7 herbs bath (which is a bath in 7 mixtures of herbs locally known as pito-pito) which is great for colds, muscle pains and is known to cure skin diseases. If you want the supreme experience, we suggest the Banahaw Mystique which is a mix of the Albularyo 7 herbs bath, Bentosa cupping and hilot massage.
2. The OM Spa – Although the OM spa offers traditional massages like Swedish and Shiatsu massages, they also provide customers with a unique experience when it comes to touch healing and massages.
Their Yoga Thai massage helps customers to improve their flexibility while they also try to assist you in finding that perfect harmony between your body and your spirit. They also have the Sports Maintenance massage that they recommend to athletes as it is focused on helping them balance muscle action to improve their performance in the field or to help speed up recovery from injuries. They also have the Meridian therapy that works with the energy system in the body aka the Meridian system. This massage increases the Qi or the life force flow within one’s body.
3. The Farm – The Farm in Lipa, Batangas has got to be a perfect example of how a SPA is supposed to be. They recommend that you stay longer than a day so that they can really take care of your health in every aspect – body, mind and spirit. They’re all about holistic treatment and the healing of your mind, body and spirit.
We recommend that you try their stone massage and the Hampol. Hampol is a healing treatment practiced by hundreds of generations of hilot in the Philippines. It uses a warm compress of local herbs and then you’re massaged by a hilot. Their “mess hall” so to speak, offers healthy and “living” food for you to eat – so that they can assist you in making the right food choices that you ingest, thereby continuing the healing of your body.
4. Wensha Spa – Wensha is known for its eat all you can buffet that you can partake of before (and even after) your massage so that you can have a taste of hedonism. Its original branch is still in West Avenue but gratefully they’ve expanded to this branch in CCP to accomodate more patrons.
For the price of 750 pesos, you can eat all you can, jacuzzi all you want, sauna all you can take and even get a “barkada room” where you and three of your friends can have a massage together in the same room. Be warned however that there are separate facilities for men and women and there’s no chance of a “happy ending’ here otherwise you get thrown out and banned from the establishment for life! (Don’t believe the rumors)
5 Neo Day Spa – Most spas or massage specialty establishments don’t have anything for expectant or new mothers. This is where NEO Day spa is a cut above the rest. They offer massage packages for expectant and new mothers, understanding the need for increasing flexibility and tolerance before she gives birth and stress relief after giving birth.
They have the Pre-natal massage therapy which helps expectant moms to increase strength and flexibility – factors needed to give birth to your bundle of joy. They also have the post natal massage treatment that helps alleviate post partum depression, relieves stress and increases energy levels for those late night feedings. They also have the lactation massage which helps new mommies increase their breastmilk flow. Pretty awesome packages for mommies, don’t you think? Don’t worry, they also have the Hanakasumi Nourishing Ritual for non pregnant mommies.
If you’re looking for accommodation near these places, we highly recommend these hotels:
