Long Weekends for 2012
Start planning your holidays and vacations for 2012! Looks like there will be 6 long weekends for the year 2012. As Per the Proclamation No. 295 that was signed by President Aquino last November 24, 2011, the first long weekend was during the celebration of the Chinese New Year.
For Holy week, the holiday will start on April 5, Maundy Thursday and ends on April 9 which is Araw ng Kagitingan that falls on a Monday. Good Friday, which falls on April 6th is considered to be a holiday already.
National Heroes’ Day on Aug. 27, a Monday, is the next long weekend while there are two long weekends in November – All Saints’ Day on the 1st and an additional special non working holiday on the 2nd. November 30 is also declared as a non working holiday as it is a Bonifacio Day – a Friday.

The last long weekend is at the end of December with Dec. 31, Monday, the last day of the year, as a special nonworking day.
The official announcement of the special holidays that celebrate the observance of Eid’l Fitr and Eidul Adha would be issued after the approximate dates of the Islamic holidays have been determined in accordance with the Islamic calendar (Hijra).
