Les Caribbes – Laiya, Batangas
For those who live in the metro, going to the beach on a whim can be done by packing the car (or van) and heading on over to Batangas. There are a lot of choices but thus far, the best choice is Laiya, Batangas.
Laiya is still quite a nice hideaway for a weekend beach adventure. The beaches aren’t quite as packed and the resorts are well kept and managed – giving you a nice but rustic ambiance. For this weekend’s getaway, we decided to pop on over to Les Caribbes.
Les Caribbes provides weekend warriors with two
types of accommodations. For larger groups, they suggest that you use the dormitory type cluster room – air conditioned, with its own toilet and bath and separate washing area. It has four double deck beds – perfect for the barkada. They also have the “kubo” (only one of which is air conditioned) which has its own kitchen/cooking area and a dining area.
You also have your choice of activities – snorkeling, kayaking, beach volleyball or just lazing away at the beach, working on your tan. Though the ocean is crystal clear, there aren’t much sea life there except for the plethora of sea urchins (Better wear your water shoes) and some fishes. (I did see a puffer fish, a stone fish and some crabs)
You have a variety of beach resorts to choose from. I’d suggest Les Caribbes or Kabayan resort. They’ve got friendly staff and really nice beach spots. To get to Laiya, Take the Sto. Tomas exit on SLEX and go through the STAR tollway to Lipa and then follow the signs going to Laiya.
