Bigg’s Diner – Embarcadero de Legaspi
I only had a few hours to stay in Legaspi before my flight back to Manila (Let’s just say I literally hopped all around the Bicol area) and one of the things I had to try was the Goto at Bigg’s. So, I dragged my tired friends over to Embarcadero de Legaspi to have dinner at Bigg’s.
Bigg’s is the most popular local “good food” restaurant in Bicol. They have several branches all over Bicolandia and are known to have the best burgers and baby back ribs. They do have the goto as part of their menu that is Filipino.
Bigg’s reminds me of this restaurant back in the 90’s that was themed the same way. It kind of makes me wonder if they have the same owner. I’ve always found the 50’s theme in restaurants to be quirky and entertaining – so long as it is done right.
Though it seems that it’s weird that I’m ordering Goto and Tokwa’t baboy in a burger place, it was highly recommended so order I did. The staff behind the counter were very pleasant and were very anticipatory of our needs. The food didn’t take too long to be served and it was served hot and presentable. I loved the night staff at their Embarcadero branch because they were so pleasant and smiling all the time.
The goto was amazing! It wasn’t watered down like most gotos are. It was at that right consistency that was thick but not coagulated. The tokwa’t baboy had firm tokwa that wasn’t over fried and had real meat! Of course, because we were in Bicol, the chilis were fresh and it was hot as hot can be.
Bigg’s Diner is located at Embarcadero de Legaspi, Legaspi Port Area, Legaspi City, Albay.
