The Distillery, Makati
I’ve never been a beer drinker. I never developed the taste for it. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll drink it when there’s nothing else to drink but given a chance, I’d rather have my glass of my favorite poison than drink beer.
However, going out with a beer drinker, you kind of develop a certain fascination for it. Beer has actually been in existence for thousands of years, making it the most popular drink next to tea and water. The Hymn of Ninkasi is actually both a prayer to the Mesopotamian goddess of beer and a recipe on how to brew it.
It used to be difficult to get a hold of good beer or different kinds of beer for that matter, here in Manila. You only got San Miguel Pale or Red horse or Manila Beer. But these beer companies have long since evolved and tried to develop beer for the younger market, thus coming up with San Mig Light, premium, etc.
For those of you who want to really get your lips wet with different kinds of beer in the international sense, head on over to the Distillery and get your fermented barley fix! They have a plethora of choices, with their shelves lined up with pretty bottles from floor to ceiling.
It’s not just beers that they’ve got. They also have hard liquor but then again, you might get some strange looks. Visit the Distillery at 20 Jupiter street, Bel-Air, Makati. Call them up at (0906)577-9915, 403-5293 for more information and reservations. They open at 5PM and close at 4AM.
