Marciano’s Greenbelt
Ever since I dined at John and Yoko, his other restaurant, I’ve been dying to dine at Marciano’s. Granted, I never got the invitation straight from Marvin Agustin himself, but I saw some reviews in magazines and thought it would be a worthy place to try out.
I admit, I had my apprehensions. First off, I thought it was quite expensive so I wanted to have enough dough to spend on the meal. Second, I thought it was just another steak and pizza place and I’m so glad I was wrong.
Marciano’s is quietly tucked in at the strip of
restaurants on the second level of Greenbelt 3. It is quite unassuming if you take a look at it but you can’t miss the visibly rich interior with it’s high contrast of red, silver and black. I personally love the seats – simple, tasteful and yet it exudes a feeling of elegance. It’s like one of those old places in Hollywood that producers and stars dine in. It’s quite quirky, to be honest. Although I wouldn’t recommend looking up on the right side of the establishment as the ceiling suddenly chops off to an open exposed ceiling – albeit with mini chandeliers.
The menu lists Hollywood inspired meals, with names bearing the same as huge Hollywood stars and characters. The staff were quick and polite. I could swear they were trained to be accommodating and yet with a bit of snottiness as if to project the exclusivity of the place. I was half expecting them to suddenly sport a British accent, complimenting our food choices. (“Very good choice sir.” or “Excellent choice, my lady”)

I was surprised at the prices they had. They were actually contradicting to my earlier thought that it was expensive. Actually, they were rather cheap (sorry, inexpensive.) The pork medallions wrapped in bacon were about the same price as the pepperoni pizza and it was utterly divine! It was cooked according to my specifications (Medium rare) and I didn’t have to send it back to have it cooked right, unlike in most other places. The sauce had the right blend and complimented the meat perfectly. I just wish they had more veggies.
The pizza was also lovely, using old Italian style pepperoni rather than those small commercial discs we are all used to. It was the right size for a really hungry person but good enough to share as a late afternoon culinary pick me up.
They even have a current promotion on wines. All wines are 50% off after 8PM! Now, wouldn’t you say that was awesome? I’d recommend the Shiraz but the Sauvignon is just as lovely.
Marciano’s is open from 11am until 10pm (weekdays) and 11am until midnight on weekends. Call them for a reservation at 7290467
