Galileo Deli – SM Hypermart, Ortigas
For Filipinos, a sandwich will always just be a snack. My foreign friends find this amusing since sandwiches for them can be considered as a meal. Now, I don’t want to contradict anyone with their beliefs but the reason I’ve always found sandwiches to be just a snack is that it never fills me like a meal with rice would. (Then McDo came up with that rice burger thingee and everything just went to hell.)
Here’s something interesting about sandwiches – though it has been in existence for quite a long time, it was actually the 4th Earl of Sandwich (yes, there is a place) John Montagu who popularized the food. He wanted to be able to eat meat without getting his fingers greasy so that he can still play cards – thus making small sandwiches for him to eat. Okay, but I digress…
Galileo Deli is just right next to Gino’s Gourmet stall at SM Hypermart, Ortigas. They sell an array of Italian gourmet ingredients for you to take home and they also make fresh sandwiches for you.

I like how they slice the meat right in front of you, letting you see that they’re not scrimping. They also use excellent cheese (I never liked cheese but these were good! Well worth the sacrifice) and best of all – they use freshly baked bread that they themselves made. None of those store bought bread that ruins the gourmet effect. We suggest you try the Jamon Serrano or the Salami sandwich.
Prices are a bit expensive, after all, it’s gourmet. But the taste is absolutely divine. It could be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had! It wasn’t thick as how other sandwich shops would do theirs but it was tasty and perfect. There’s beauty and deliciousness in simplicity.
Galileo Deli is located just outside the supermarket of SM Hypermart, next to Gino’s Gourmet. Store hours are from 10Am to 8PM.

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading.
I have been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the internet will be much more useful than ever before.

Do they do catering as well?
I believe they do. Try to visit their stall to ask them. :)
What a comment!! Very informative and easy to understand. Looking for more such blogposts!! Do you have a myspace?
I recommended it on stumbleupon. The only thing that it’s missing is a bit of speed, the pictures are appearing slowly. However thank you for this information.
