Museo ning Angeles
As a child, we would always pass by Angeles and Dau from Pangasinan to Manila. I remember it being so full of life and activity and I relished going there because I knew I’d be getting some real Tootsie Rolls and a can of Pringles. Growing up, I had another connection with Angeles and Pampanga. As a college student, I was one of those who were against the American bases staying in the country. Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t want the military base here but I was more than happy to let establishments and businesses stay.
Angeles city has changed and has grown to have more character and is more proud of its roots. To learn more about the local culture, we visited the Museo ning Angeles. The museum itself has a lot of history. It used to be an old ancestral home until it was turned into the municipal hall and has now become the museum.
The dolls used in the dioramas were dressed by a very famous Pampangueno who’s an icon in the fashion world – Ms. Patis Tesoro. All the dolls’ clothes are made from real pina fabric and beaded by hand. A real treasure, if you ask me.
We also had the privilege to meet the
photographer/artist whose work was on exhibit in the museum. A local artist who’s a photographer – Lee Cahili.
What’s interesting about their museum is the kulinarya tour. They have a live kitchen and at the end of the tour, they would invite you to partake of the famous Kapampangan culinary fare. They would even invite you to make some with them.
Soon, they shall have their walking tour live and operational – taking the visitors to a culinary and historical tour around Angeles City.
The Museo ning Angeles is located at Old Municipio, Sto. Rosario St.
